怕自己水平太菜大家看不懂,所以DL还是用中文吧

因为一直说要坚持每天看学点儿英语,但是不用又没环境总是懒过去了

所以想开个楼看看有没有愿意一块儿说点儿英文来交流的楼

2 = =2011/4/25 21:12:00

求英文好的GN交流
悲催的啥都忘光了
偏偏现在去了外资,各种痛苦

3 = =2011/4/25 21:27:00

举手

讨厌的

FS!

4 = =2011/4/25 21:40:00

my english is not very well but?i wanna communicate with you guys?in english in order to practice my english...

ok. one sentence?was over and i don't even know how many mistakes i have made...OTL

5 = =2011/4/25 21:49:00

to LS, you should have used good instead of well. The rest of your lines are pretty good. Keep it up! =)

6 = =2011/4/25 21:51:00

带学生党玩吗?

7 = =2011/4/25 21:55:00

8 = =2011/4/25 21:56:00

I love english but my english is very poor so i think this is a chance

9 = =2011/4/25 21:58:00

Spoken English has always been my pain.....

10 = =2011/4/25 21:59:00

sure, bring it on...
I'm better at English than I am at Chinese actually so feel free to use me for practice or whatever.

11 = =2011/4/25 21:59:00

well, i always say that i have forgot the twenty-four letters. Then my friend tells me there are twenty-six. T______T

OK,the same with me

12 = =2011/4/25 22:01:00

to ls... speaking english or oral english ba..........= =

13 = =2011/4/25 22:02:00

To #9 (are you the same person as 12?): usually people just say "I'm bad at speaking."

14 = =2011/4/25 22:03:00

记得以前有个外语交流的楼

里面都是日语和英文的

15 = =2011/4/25 22:06:00

ok,I'm in, I work in a international trade company now,

so I still have some chances to use English with our clients

16 = =2011/4/25 22:07:00

to 12L

Native speaker prefers the term "spoken English" rather than "oral English".

17 = =2011/4/25 22:07:00

I've never played such kind of game, so I don't know the rule.

Is there a topic? If so, what is it?

I'm trying to read a piece of new on BBC News everyday. Today's news for tech is about Sony's network. It is said that hacking was blamed for PlayStation network being taken offline.

25 = =2011/4/25 22:19:00

Ruby...

You remind me of Berlusconi's sex scandal.

Sorry....

26 Ruby2011/4/25 22:20:00

so ,some one say something

27 = =2011/4/25 22:21:00

To #23: Don't worry, just throw yourself into it, be confident, and talk to people and you'll be fluent in no time. People won't hold you up to the standards of a native speaker who also happens to be an English major or anything like that, just be brave and talk to people. You'll be just fine, promise.

28 = =2011/4/25 22:22:00

To 23L.

One of my America told me, don't say your Enlish is poor because actually it't not that bad. You can say, I'm not good at English, but I'm improving.

in the uni , i used? name Ricky because of KAKA

31 27L2011/4/25 22:24:00

I'm #10 by the way. (Anybody else feels weird using "10L" or whatnot while typing in English since the "L" part comes from pinyin? Something about that just doesn't compute for me...)

32 Ruby2011/4/25 22:24:00

well,I'll back tomorrow,have to go to bed now

I get up 6:30 and go to work on 7:30 so I have to sleep early

goodbye and kiss all of you

haha

33 = =2011/4/25 22:26:00

tips for those who are going to US or any other english speaking country:
don't fright over the fact that your oral english isn't of good quality yet
once you get into the environment, you will see significant improvement. Before going to US you should worry more about your grammar and writing rather than your oral english since that will be settled naturally

34 10L2011/4/25 22:26:00

Nighty night! (That's awfully early for getting up... But what can I say? Lazy college student and anything earlier than noon is too early for me)

35 = =2011/4/25 22:28:00

Cute Ruby. Pleasant dream.

And I'll go now.

See you tomorrow.

36 = =2011/4/25 22:29:00

thank 27&28L i will try to and be confident to speak english ,3Q!

to 29L hope you have a good mark !

3Q? =)

in fact i'm reading?some english?fictions?rencently but i can't undertand?them completely T-T

i think i should improve my english skill as soon as possible...

38 = =2011/4/25 22:35:00

to 23L too

when u are in the States, i guess it would be much easier for u to pick up the language since u are immersed in the "pure" english environment. u will be forced to speak. so just be brave and not be afraid of making mistakes. u will make good progress=) having interest in what u do is important. it might sound weird but personally i find listening to songs helps. better still if u like the singer lol.?

39 = =2011/4/25 22:59:00

I remember that last year we had a post like this

Seconded. LJ's probably where most of the English JE fandom is. Not everyone's native on there though, obviously, so take the English there with a grain of salt and don't presume that they're all fluent and just walked out of the OED editorial office. Probably helps loads with just practicing English with something you actually like though.

45 = =2011/4/26 9:48:00

Morning girls. Anybody here?

I'm going to have a phone interview with a HR manager a few minites later. I'm soooooo nervous because I know nothing about this industry!!!

I'd better to prepare to lose face....

46 = =2011/4/26 10:04:00

#45
u should prepare to convince him to get the offer
good luck, girl~=)

47 45#2011/4/26 10:22:00

46#, thank you.

I just phoned the manager,? but his cell?is power off !

I want to finish the interview? as soon as possible. It distracts me badly. I can't concentrate on going over lessons.

48 = =2011/4/26 10:33:00

even though major in english,?
i'm under a lot of pressure here
?

49 = =2011/4/26 10:48:00

This L seems fun.

i think i have much more trouble in written engligh than in spoken.

one of my routine work is communicating with mgrs from all functions within the company via email. and i'm always in trouble of how to write an email to discuss some tough issues with soft tones that the reader might not feel aggressive or been ordered, which is?exactly what?i'm doing...

also english major...huge pressure

50 = =2011/4/26 10:50:00

This thread sounds interesting.
post 45, tell us more about your phone interview when you'll be done.
wish you best of lucks!

51 = =2011/4/26 10:58:00

49L+1

I don't know how to write a soft email on tough issue as well..it took me so long to finish a short email and i always read others' mail and try to learn something?...?still strugglingT_T

I am a business major student in U.S. Here we have a class called Business Communication, which includes business writing (e-mail, memo, formal report, thank you letter..), oral communication and grammar. I think this course is specifically aimed at your problem.

If you have time you may look for some similar courses in your city..

Good luck. As you practice more, I believe you will?make?progress?soon.

53 = =2011/4/26 11:03:00

I think it's great idea to read others' e-mails if they are?proper enough to be an example. When we take Business Communication courses, all of my classmates wrote assignments by referring to the examples on the book more or less.

Don't worry. read others' emails and get what you think is right and proper for you, it's the right way to learn.

54 = =2011/4/26 11:03:00

well, seems i got good luck today~ have taken a good floor~

55 = =2011/4/26 11:08:00

I'm?a new person of?an international law firm,all of the original tele,email and documents are in English,so I always be?fear of communicating with colleagues.

Last month our team came a foregin colleague,I encouraged myself to talk?with?him more and more to practice my spoken English.

Deeply i feel sorry to him because he is just a language learning tool for me while he?seem so willing to talk with me

finally,however,he talk with me only in Chinese!never use other language!even if I start my dialogue in English,he ignore me?and reply in Chinese...

I am the tool at all....fivefivefive..

========================================

really appreciate your suggestion

i need this kind of lesson seriously

just been judged that my email looks too aggressive, god knows my deep heart is as soft as a mild sheep...

53L, may you suggest the sentence: "as xxx, pls do xxx", "according to xxx, please do xxx" seems aggresive? how can i improve to soften the tone?

57 = =2011/4/26 11:12:00

Not #53, but maybe you could consider "it might be a good idea to xxxx", "could you xxxx", or something along those lines instead of "please do xxxx"? That way it's not as commanding and aggressive.

58 = =2011/4/26 11:13:00

I'm #45. The manager's cell phone is still power off.

I'm stood up!!!

BTW, this?post is so harmonious. I like this atomesphere.

But I'm weak at spelling. I can't? type without the help of dictionary.

59 = =2011/4/26 11:15:00

my problem is that my major is spanish and german
since i had been in spain for 2yrs and other year in italia, i get lots of troubles in english now
the using of words, some grammatical problems,(┬_┬)

60 = =2011/4/26 11:15:00

i'm not 53
i would personally add either "please do me a favor" or "it would be greatly help me/it would be of great help" somewhere in the message

61 = =2011/4/26 11:18:00

TO #49 and #51

You can also try "I hate to say....". This is a gental way to say something unpleasant but you have to say.

62 = =2011/4/26 11:19:00

Spanish!!! took 3 yrs of courses but now i remember nothing of it T T
all the verb tenses are gone from my brain....
but it's weird, sometimes when i want to formulate a simple sentence in japanese, spanish comes to mind first...
it's the over way around when i want to speak in spanish...it's ironic

63 = =2011/4/26 11:22:00

I had the same feeling as #62 when I was learning Japanese.

When I should speaking English, Japanese sometimes comes first and I don't know how to express myself in English.

64 #492011/4/26 11:26:00

to all above offered me suggestions, thanks sooooooooooo much

you know, sometimes, i actually know how to be polite, but when i worte an email, the only sentence came into my mind is " as xxx, please do xxx", it just be formulized...i hate formulization!

65 = =2011/4/26 11:28:00

#62

i thought that spainish is the easiest language in the whole world
though it has so many verb?conjugation, but the grammatical part is easy

i spent so many years on english, but i should say i do not catch it

66 = =2011/4/26 11:29:00

i find spanish and japanese very similar
take the verb "mirar" (watch/look) in spanish for instance, in first person it's "miro"
in japanese, it has the same meaning but used differently

67 = =2011/4/26 11:33:00

This post helps a lot!!!
do learnt something here!!!
BTW, #63 I have the same problem with you though I'm not learning japanese seriously…

68 = =2011/4/26 11:34:00

i know spanish is easy, especially when my 2nd language is french n they are so close
but it's the verb conjugations that i keep forgetting
one thing i will never forget, pelo = hair, pelos = body hair XD
we used to make that mistake on oral presentations since in french, hair is in plurial

69 = =2011/4/26 11:35:00

I am 53L

Actually it depends on what kind of message you are going to delivery. For example if you are writing an e-mail to ask for information, (such as ask a company whether it could provide your company with the detailed price of its goods) you can write in an aggresive way. This kind of e-mail?has to be straight forward.

However, as most of the GNs said above, on some occasions where you have to be soft and mild, just use?polite expression.. "could you please" "It would be very kind of you"..

70 = =2011/4/26 11:35:00

#66

spanish pronounciation is similar to the japanese way,except "rr" XD

spanish word spelling is similar to english

71 = =2011/4/26 11:43:00

pelo = hair, pelos = body hair

=====

HUY, i wrote one sentence “....es una chica muy guapa de pelos largos”, ?it has been a joke among my friends for a long time

72 = =2011/4/26 11:45:00

*handshake*
we understand each other XD

73 = =2011/4/26 12:03:00

I am going to attend an interview held by german embassy tmr morning called APS test which is the?precondition for applying to german unis.

I did prepare all answers for those prospective question but still got nervous :s

Anyone here knows the test and can?give me?some tips?

74 = =2011/4/26 12:43:00

#63, I have the same problem, though with Japanese and Norwegian! It's always Japanese accidentally popping out when I meant to say something in Norwegian though... And then I'd resort to French when I scramble to correct myself. I wonder why that never happens in the reverse or with English or Chinese...

75 = =2011/4/26 13:09:00

because u are fluent in both english and chinese. when u are using these two languages, u can formulate ur ideas and thoughts monolingually and there is no need to rely on another language for vocabularies.

anyway to those who asked how to make ur tone sound less aggressive, the use of past tense like would, might, and could helps to soften ur tone. besides those mentioned by 69L,u could consider using "would it be possible if u could....." just to give the impression that u are suggesting a possible option but not demanding the other party to necessarily carry out the action.

76 = =2011/4/26 14:02:00

OMG u guys!!

chatting in english about spanish and all that...how many languages do you know?

77 = =2011/4/26 14:14:00

I am living oversea but english is not good as well. My idea is writting it down makes no sense. coz u always focus on the grammer, spelling?but not pronouncation or fluence. I suggest skype or chatting face to face~~The time taken to reply is also important, if you r chatting with a foreigner, thats weired if u think for ages.
