Spanish!!! took 3 yrs of courses but now i remember nothing of it T T
all the verb tenses are gone from my brain....
but it's weird, sometimes when i want to formulate a simple sentence in japanese, spanish comes to mind first...
it's the over way around when i want to speak in spanish...it's ironic

I had the same feeling as #62 when I was learning Japanese.
When I should speaking English, Japanese sometimes comes first and I don't know how to express myself in English.

i thought that spainish is the easiest language in the whole world
though it has so many verb?conjugation, but the grammatical part is easy
i spent so many years on english, but i should say i do not catch it

i find spanish and japanese very similar
take the verb "mirar" (watch/look) in spanish for instance, in first person it's "miro"
in japanese, it has the same meaning but used differently

i know spanish is easy, especially when my 2nd language is french n they are so close
but it's the verb conjugations that i keep forgetting
one thing i will never forget, pelo = hair, pelos = body hair XD
we used to make that mistake on oral presentations since in french, hair is in plurial

Actually it depends on what kind of message you are going to delivery. For example if you are writing an e-mail to ask for information, (such as ask a company whether it could provide your company with the detailed price of its goods) you can write in an aggresive way. This kind of e-mail?has to be straight forward.
However, as most of the GNs said above, on some occasions where you have to be soft and mild, just use?polite expression.. "could you please" "It would be very kind of you"..

#63, I have the same problem, though with Japanese and Norwegian! It's always Japanese accidentally popping out when I meant to say something in Norwegian though... And then I'd resort to French when I scramble to correct myself. I wonder why that never happens in the reverse or with English or Chinese...
75= =发表于:2011/4/26 13:09:00
because u are fluent in both english and chinese. when u are using these
two languages, u can formulate ur ideas and thoughts monolingually and
there is no need to rely on another language for vocabularies.
anyway to those who asked how to make ur tone sound less aggressive, the
use of past tense like would, might, and could helps to soften ur tone.
besides those mentioned by 69L,u could consider using "would it be
possible if u could....." just to give the impression that u are suggesting a possible option but not demanding the other party to necessarily carry
out the action.

OMG u guys!!
chatting in english about spanish and all that...how many languages do you know?

I am living oversea but english is not good as well. My idea is writting it down makes no sense. coz u always focus on the grammer, spelling?but not pronouncation or fluence. I suggest skype or chatting face to face~~The time taken to reply is also important, if you r chatting with a foreigner, thats weired if u think for ages.
