Also, I never usually do this but while in Las Vegas I walked past a very expensive candy shop. Ive never seen such beautiful chocolates before in my life, and a year ago, I could have never afforded these chocolates. I bought a box and brought it home to my mother. I couldnt wait to try it. I picked the most delicious looking piece and stuffed it into my mouth, and then took it right back out. It was horrible!!! It was the worst chocolate Ive ever had in my life. Yuck.

OM: How about singing?
LD: Singing? Singing, I started it just as a hobby. I sang in choir at school and in church.
PH: What kind of church did you go to?
LD: Christian church.
PH: So you sang hymns?
LD: "I'm saved, I'm saved...." That song.

PH: Wasn't it tough going to school and working as well?
LD: Yeah, it was hard because a lot of times, my friends are going out and having fun after school and I have to go to work, since I was 14. That was kind of hard. I have a single mother and I felt like I was helping her. That, and also I felt like it was kind of out of necessity, like I had to.
My mother told me pretty early on that you don't really have a lot of the...how do you say...not novelties but you know, the things that maybe....
PH: Material things?
LD: Not material things. Well, material things but some of the things that you might see your friends having. Like, maybe you have to work a little bit harder.
Well, I got through it, so.... It made me a lot stronger and it's nothing that I would ever change if I had a chance to.
