• May 2006: NEWS is suspended for the rest of the year due to temporary suspension of 2 members (Uchi Hiroki in July 2005 & Kusano Hironori in January 2006). Members that are not related to the scandals will be allowed to carry on with their solo activities, but no group activities will be carried on during this period until further notice.

• The name NEWS is derived from the four global directions North, East, West and South.

• Nishikido Ryo and Uchi Hiroki are also members of Kanjani8

  Koyama Keiichiro, Kusano Hironori, and Kato Shigeaki were called KKKity before becoming members of NewS.

  Yamashita Tomohisa was a part of the popular junior group called 4Tops.

  Yamashita Tomohisa will also be forming a temporary group along with Thai Johnny's Golf & Mike along with four other Johnny's Juniors in promotion of the Women's Volleyball World Prix. the Juniors are as follows: Kitayama Hiromitsu from Kis-my-ft2, Inoo Kei from J.J. Express, Totsuka Shota from A.B.C., Yaotome Hikaru from Ya-Ya-Yah. The name of the group is "kitty G(olf)Y(amashita)M(ike)" and the promotional single, Fever and Future, is set to be released in August.
